Ralph
Ungermann, Managing Director
Mr.
Ungermann is a founder and Managing Director
of CSV; he has 39 years experience of
founding, leading and creating strong
exits for high-tech start-ups in the United
States and Japan.
Prior to CSV, Mr. Ungermann co-founded
First Virtual Communications, a leading
supplier of online rich media communication
software and went IPO in 1998. Prior to
that, Mr. Ungermann was the Co-Founder,
CEO and Chairman of Ungermann-Bass, the
first Local Area Network (LAN) company
in the world. Before Ungermann-Bass, Mr.
Ungermann was the Co-Founder, COO and
Director of Zilog, which Z80 product line
was very successful, winning most of the
second generation PC design-ins. In 1972,
Mr. Ungermann joined Intel's new microprocessor
development group and was later promoted
to the Manager of microprocessor R&D.
This team brought the legendary 8080 microprocessor
to market.
Mr. Ungermann received a Master's degree
in Computer Architecture from UC Irvine
and a Bachelor's degree in Electrical
Engineering from UC Berkeley.
Mr. Ungermann was previously a board member
of Strix Systems.
