Michael Liao, Managing Director

Mr. Liao is a Managing Director at CSV; he has 12 years of strong China experience in private equity investment and company operations, with particular expertise in the software, retail marketing, and real estate sectors.

Prior to CSV, Mr. Liao was a director at Pacific Investment and Development Ltd. where he led or co-led over US$40 million in private equity investment in the China real estate, technology, and education sectors. Mr. Liao also led the marketing department at Grand Ocean Department Stores, which became the fastest growing department store chain in China, during 2004.

Mr. Liao also worked previously at Shanghai Qianlong, a publicly-traded company and China's largest stock market quotation and financial information services provider, where he co-managed operations and planning. Before Qianlong, Mr. Liao was the finance and marketing head at Optima Financial Software, a Shanghai-based start-up, where he played a key role in growing the company into a sustainable venture, from 4 to 100+ employees.

Mr. Liao has resided continuously in Shanghai since 1999 and received a BS in Interdisciplinary Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

Mr. Liao currently sits on the boards of 5V Technologies, China Business Exchange and Blade Games.
